AI in AEC is Getting Real

· · 1 min read

What’s next in the evolving AEC tech landscape.

Hello everyone,

It was inspiring to return from AIA25 in Boston and see just how passionate people are about AI in the AEC industry. There were many thoughtful discussions on how to use AI wisely in practice. It’s a promising sign that the AEC community is finally engaging with this technology in a serious way—and I’m glad we’re all part of that momentum.

As AI takes over more routine and technical tasks in AEC, our uniquely human contributions become even more critical. The value of professionals in this industry is shifting—from doing the work, to guiding how the work is done and why it matters.

Designing for human health, well-being, and equity requires empathy, context, and ethical judgment—things AI can’t replicate. To stay relevant and provide real value, we need to focus on what makes us irreplaceable: listening to diverse voices, shaping spaces that support people, and making decisions that go beyond data.

AEC market trends, new project opportunities, and AI insights

Moving forward, I’ll be updating the format of the DataDrivenAEC newsletter to offer deeper insights into current technologies and industry trends. Staying informed has never been more important.
