Drywall Finish Level
Estimator

Reconcile a measured area against your own board, waste, productivity, labor-rate, material-cost, and markup assumptions.

No finish-level productivity or price preset
Derive inputs from the actual GA-214 scope, substrate, height, access, board/layer layout, crew record, quotations, location and base date.

Who it's for: drywall contractors and estimators building a bid scenario before construction, from measured area and verified productivity.

Published benchmarks

Published interior fit-out costs for context. These are whole fit-out figures per square foot, not drywall finish rates; use them to sanity-check a bid, not as an input.

How to use this calculator

1
Measure and define scope
Record finish level, surfaces, layers, access and units.
2
Enter company evidence
Use current crew productivity, supplier quotations and chosen allowances.
3
Review exclusions
No layout, fastening, joints, beads, backing, access, schedule, tax or adequacy is derived.

The formula

Boards = ceiling(area × layers × (1 + allowance%) ÷ usable board area). Hours = area × entered hours per area. Total = (hours × labor rate + entered materials) × (1 + markup%).

Example
Enter project-specific values; no example market rate is supplied.

When this estimate will be off

  • Arithmetic only; not a takeoff or quote.
  • All scope and commercial inputs must be supplied and verified by the user.

Frequently asked questions

A common mistake: Arithmetic only; not a takeoff or quote.

No. It only applies entered bid assumptions after the project finish level is defined.
