STACK Construction Technologies

Cloud-based takeoff, estimating, and field-collaboration platform with AI-assisted measurement

Cloud construction software combining digital quantity takeoff and estimating (Takeoff & Estimate) with field collaboration, document control, and daily reporting for the build phase (Build & Operate). Floor Plan AI auto-detects doors, windows, rooms, and walls to generate a baseline takeoff, and STACK Assist is a chat-based AI assistant that answers plan-specific questions with sheet references. Founded 2008 as Cloud Takeoff; rebranded to STACK Construction Technologies.

$29.3M total across 6 rounds (Crunchbase aggregate); includes a $7M growth investment from Level Equity announced Jan 2018, with continued backing from Level Equity and CincyTech; Crunchbase records an additional unattributed ~$2.99M VC round dated Aug 2025 raisedEstablished
Founded 2008 · 300+ published customer reviews and 53 case studies (FeaturedCustomers); named enterprise users shown on stackct.com include Turner, Kiewit, Siemens, and PCL; individual case studies report Everflow Plumbing (30% win-rate increase, +$1.5M revenue), Michael Manning Roofing (25% commercial growth), and Elemex (25-30% productivity increase). Exact total customer/user count not publicly disclosed.

Why This Tool Exists

The Problem

Preconstruction estimators measure quantities off paper or PDF blueprints and build cost estimates in spreadsheets, a slow, error-prone process that is disconnected from the accounting/ERP and field tools used later in the project, and that makes it hard to catch missed scope before bidding.

The Solution

STACK lets estimators measure directly from digital plans (area, linear, arc, pitched, count, volume) and turn quantities into priced estimates and bid-ready proposals in the cloud. Floor Plan AI auto-detects doors, windows, rooms, and interior/exterior walls to generate a starting takeoff that estimators edit rather than draw from scratch, and STACK Assist answers plan-specific questions (e.g., "where are the wall types defined?") with sheet-level references in about 30 seconds. A separate Build & Operate module carries plans, markups, punch lists, and daily reports into the field during construction, and the platform connects to Procore, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, and Acumatica for accounting/ERP workflows.

Data Transparency

Exactly what this tool uses and how

Input
What it needs
Required:Digital construction plans/blueprints
Optional:Existing takeoff templates, Labor rates and cost data, Procore project/drawing data (via integration)
Formats:PDF, TIFF
Output
What you get
Format:Digital takeoff measurements, priced estimates, and bid-ready proposals, plus field data from Build & Operate
Fields:Quantity takeoff (area, linear, count, volume measurements), Priced line-item estimate, Bill of materials, Bid-ready proposal document, Profit-margin dashboards/reports, Field markups, punch lists, and daily reports (Build & Operate)
Algorithm
How it works
Model:Proprietary computer-vision/ML model for Floor Plan AI and a separate AI assistant (STACK Assist) for plan Q&A; specific model architecture not publicly disclosed
Accuracy:Vendor claims 10x faster takeoffs vs. manual methods, up to 35% improvement in estimating accuracy, and 50-90% time savings on automated takeoffs (Workpack); no independently audited detection-accuracy or error-rate figures published for Floor Plan AI
Privacy
How your data is protected
Retention:Data retained "as long as necessary to provide the Services" / for the life of an active account; the published privacy policy (managewithstack.com, last updated Sept 2020) states no fixed retention period
Training:Not addressed in the published privacy policy — no statement on whether customer plan/project data is used to train AI/ML models
Compliance:SOC 2 compliant (self-reported by vendor; described as expanded from construction to preconstruction solutions), SecurityScorecard rating of 97/100 (A grade), cited by vendor in comparison to Autodesk (81) and Procore (94)
API
Integration
Endpoint:Documented via a partner/developer portal at stackct.com/developers-docs; no public base URL listed outside the portal
Method:REST API

Use Cases

  • ·Digital quantity takeoff (area, linear, count, volume) from PDF/TIFF blueprints for GC and subcontractor estimators
  • ·AI-assisted floor plan takeoff (auto-detecting doors, windows, rooms, walls) to speed up baseline measurements
  • ·Building priced estimates and bid-ready proposals from takeoff quantities
  • ·Field collaboration during construction: plan markups, punch lists, and daily reporting (Build & Operate)
  • ·Syncing estimates and project data with Procore, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or Acumatica for accounting/ERP workflows

Pricing

Free
A free version of Takeoff & Estimate is available (per stackct.com/pricing); Build & Operate offers a two-week free trial
Pro
Exact tiers are not published on stackct.com, which directs buyers to "Build Your Price" or a demo request. Third-party reseller listings (Capterra, Software Advice, G2) report Takeoff & Estimate around $2,199-$2,999/user/year depending on seat count, Build & Operate around $599/year, and a Floor Plan AI add-on at roughly $899/user — these figures are not confirmed on STACK's own site and may be outdated
