The worksheet multiplies the table value by both factors and takes the minimum of that result, the termination value, and any additional entered cap.

The formula

Corrected table ampacity = verified base table ampacity × verified temperature correction factor × verified conductor-count adjustment factor. Worksheet limit = the smaller of corrected table ampacity, applicable termination ampacity, and any entered additional ampacity limit.

Worked example

Example
If the adopted-code table value is 100 A, the verified temperature factor is 0.91, the verified conductor-count factor is 0.80, and the applicable termination ampacity is 85 A, the corrected table value is 72.8 A and it governs the worksheet comparison.

  • The multiplication model is only applicable when the selected adopted-code provisions direct those factors to be applied to the selected table value.
  • This worksheet does not calculate load, continuous-load treatment, conductor size, parallel conductors, dwelling-service allowances, cable/raceway rules, rooftop conditions, neutral counting, overcurrent protection, voltage drop, equipment listing, or local amendments.

A common mistake: No NEC table, factor, conductor classification, or adopted edition is embedded. Every numeric code value must be obtained from the official adopted source for the actual installation.

An unversioned partial table can silently mix editions, installation conditions, and terminal rules. Requiring source-verified inputs keeps the arithmetic useful without presenting a partial lookup as a complete code determination.

Do not assume so. The applicable code may allow a conductor temperature rating for correction/adjustment while separately limiting the final result through the equipment termination provisions. Enter the verified termination ampacity independently.
