Clearstory
Real-time change order and T&M tracking platform for construction teams
Clearstory is a collaborative change order and Time & Material (T&M) management platform for commercial construction. General contractors, specialty contractors, and owners share a real-time Change Order Request (COR) log and digital T&M tags to price, review, and approve extra work, with an AI pricing agent (built on Google Gemini) that can convert a voice note, takeoff, or drawing into a priced change order using the project's existing rate library. The company was founded as Extracker in 2018 and rebranded to Clearstory in 2023 after acquiring DataStreet.
Why This Tool Exists
General contractors, specialty contractors, and owners on commercial projects typically negotiate Change Order Requests (CORs) and Time & Material (T&M) tickets by email, paper tickets, and spreadsheets, so each party's change order log drifts out of sync. Clearstory's own customer case studies report specific costs of this: Superior Industrial Insulation spent 3 days per week tracking T&M/COR paperwork manually, and Hoem & Associates had $336K of completed floor-prep work sitting unbilled because it was never converted into a priced, approved change order.
Clearstory centralizes CORs and digital T&M tags into a single collaborative log that all parties view and update in real time, replacing emailed spreadsheets and paper tickets. Field teams create photo-backed, digitally signed T&M tags on any device; an AI pricing agent (Gemini-based) can turn a voice note, takeoff, or drawing into a fully priced COR by pulling rates from the project's rate library; and integrations push approved changes directly into Procore, Sage, CMiC, Vista, and Plexxis without manual re-entry.
