Automates Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) generation for building material manufacturers

SaaS "climate-native product management" platform for construction material manufacturers that centralizes plant, supplier, and product life-cycle data to automate the creation of third-party-verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Also operates Emidat Atlas, a free public database aggregating 150,000+ existing EPDs, and prepares manufacturer data for the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP).

€4.5M total (€500K pre-seed + €4M seed round closed Oct 2024, led by General Catalyst); also a Suffolk Technologies BOOST-4 accelerator portfolio company raisedGrowth Stage
Founded 2023 · 150+ manufacturer customers across 22+ countries as of 2026 (per company/press reporting), including Schwenk, Sika, and Heidelberg Materials — up from ~25 customers and ~350 projects reported by TechCrunch at the Oct 2024 seed round

Why This Tool Exists

The Problem

Building material manufacturers face a multi-step, multi-agency EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) reporting process that historically takes up to a year and costs roughly €15,000 per product, while EU regulation (Construction Products Regulation, Digital Product Passport) is pushing them to produce and maintain EPDs across entire product portfolios rather than one-off documents.

The Solution

Emidat organizes life-cycle inventory data into a reusable "three-drawer" model (Plant, Supplier, Product) so a single data update propagates across every affected product, then matches materials against a database of 150,000+ supplier EPDs and nine LCI databases (including ecoinvent) to auto-generate EN 15804/ISO 21930-compliant EPDs. Generated EPDs go through independent third-party verification before publication (Emidat is an ECO Platform Publishing Partner), under an annual license that the company says cuts turnaround to about a week and cost to as low as €50 per product versus the conventional process.

Exactly what this tool uses and how

Input
What it needs
Required:Manufacturing recipe / bill-of-materials data, Supplier material data, Plant energy and process consumption data
Optional:Existing supplier EPDs, BIM model exports, ERP/energy-management system exports
Formats:Excel, API (JSON/XML), BIM data imports
Output
What you get
Format:Standards-compliant, third-party-verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) documents plus a web reporting dashboard
Fields:Global Warming Potential (GWP) and other EN 15804 impact indicators, Life-cycle stage breakdown (modules A1-A3, A4, C, D), Impact/hotspot visualizations, Verified EPD document formatted for the relevant program operator, Digital Product Passport (DPP)-ready dataset
Algorithm
How it works
Model:Proprietary EPD/LCA automation engine (no disclosed ML model architecture) that maps manufacturer input data to a database of 150,000+ supplier EPDs and nine LCI databases, including ecoinvent
Accuracy:Not publicly specified — no disclosed benchmark accuracy metric; output correctness relies on database coverage and mandatory third-party verification rather than a published model accuracy figure
Privacy
How your data is protected
Retention:Personal data retained 'for as long as required by the purpose they have been collected for' per the general privacy policy (contract-tied data retained until contract completion); no fixed retention period publicly specified for uploaded product/environmental datasets
Training:Not publicly specified whether customer product or LCA data is used to train Emidat's matching/automation systems
Compliance:ISO 27001 certified (per Kertos compliance-platform case study on Emidat), GDPR compliant (per privacy policy), ECO Platform Publishing Partner (third-party EPD verification network), Generated EPDs conform to EN 15804, ISO 21930, and ISO 14040 standards, No SOC 2 report publicly disclosed
API
Integration
Endpoint:Not publicly documented; API integration available for ERP and energy-management system data feeds (contact vendor for access)
Method:Not publicly specified (company states technical specs and CE data are converted to JSON/XML for integration)

Use Cases

  • ·Automating EPD generation for a full building-materials product portfolio under a single annual license
  • ·Producing EN 15804/ISO 21930-compliant, third-party-verified EPDs in about a week instead of up to a year
  • ·Identifying carbon and environmental-impact hotspots across a product life cycle to guide material or process changes
  • ·Preparing Digital Product Passport (DPP) data ahead of EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) requirements
  • ·Benchmarking a manufacturer's environmental performance against industry peers

Pricing
