Kartorium
Browser-based digital twin platform for sharing reality-capture data on industrial and utility infrastructure
Kartorium is a cloud platform that hosts point clouds, orthomosaics, elevation models, mesh files, and 360-degree imagery (including Matterport scans) produced by drone LiDAR, photogrammetry, and laser scanning inside a browser-based interactive 3D "virtual twin," letting non-technical utility, municipal, and industrial staff view, share, and manage geolocated asset data without specialized 3D software.
Why This Tool Exists
Utilities, municipalities, and industrial operators that commission drone LiDAR, photogrammetry, laser scanning, or Matterport surveys often end up with large, specialist-only point-cloud and mesh files. Non-technical staff, remote field crews, and outside partners struggle to view, share, or act on that captured site data - a problem compounded in remote locations (e.g., rural Alaska utility infrastructure) with limited connectivity and no dedicated 3D-software expertise.
Kartorium hosts processed reality-capture outputs (point clouds, orthomosaics, elevation models, mesh files, 360-degree/Matterport scans) alongside GIS layers, documents, images, and geolocated asset records in a browser-based 3D "Builder" scene that non-technical users can navigate without installing specialized software, plus an offline-capable field app for capturing new asset data in low-connectivity locations.

Exactly what this tool uses and how
Client API for reading/updating Builder projects, scenes, features, and map data (documented at docs.kartorium.com); no public base URL or full endpoint reference disclosedUse Cases
- ·Creating browser-based interactive 3D digital twins of industrial facilities, utility infrastructure, or job sites from drone/LiDAR/photogrammetry/Matterport captures
- ·Centralizing and geolocating asset inventories for utilities, municipalities, and industrial operators
- ·Remote, offline-capable field data capture for site documentation in low-connectivity locations
- ·Renewable-energy and infrastructure planning assessments (e.g., the Alaska Energyshed project with Kotzebue Electric Association and the Alaska Center for Energy & Power)
- ·Sharing reality-capture outputs (point clouds, orthomosaics, elevation models, mesh files) with clients and team members through a browser, without dedicated 3D software
