Why This Tool Exists

The Problem

Property insurers, restoration contractors, and home-improvement companies must send an adjuster or estimator onsite to measure rooms, identify materials, and assess damage before they can produce an estimate — a manual process that delays claims payouts and contractor quotes and adds travel/labor cost per property visited.

The Solution

A policyholder or homeowner photographs a room with an ordinary smartphone camera (no app download, LiDAR, or specialized equipment required); Hosta’s computer vision platform then generates a floor plan, room measurements and square footage, a material/bill-of-materials list, and a condition or damage assessment. Through an integration announced with Verisk in 2023, Hosta can auto-generate a Xactimate sketch directly from the photos for insurance claims estimating.
